About us

We are a team of professionals working in international development. Individually, we each have many years of experience working on highly varied issues and projects. We have come together in 2022 to launch the Intrepid Hare Development Collective to offer a range of professional services to support international development organisations.

Joanna Hoare, PhD, Co-director

Joanna is an established gender and development specialist with a portfolio of skills and experience including applied research, analytical and critical thinking skills, communication, project management, and programme development. Joanna has particular in-depth knowledge of development issues in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region.

Matthew Naumann, Co-director

Matthew is a social affairs professional with more than 20 years of professional experience working on socio-economic, development, humanitarian and political issues, and strong writing and analytical skills. Matthew has particular knowledge of and extensive work experience in Central Asia, but also a close interest in developments at home in Scotland and around the world.

Eduardo Iturralde, Associate

Eduardo has almost two decades' experience as a graphic designer, specializing in branding, illustration, and data visualisation for publications. Eduardo has a particular passion and flair for visual communication in its many forms.

César Sánchez Velasco, Associate

Multi-disciplinary creative director. Producing solutions that resonate with the user and encourage interaction. Experienced in design strategy, art direction and improving lives through visual communication.

Murdo MacLeod, Associate

Murdo is a communications professional with experience in print and broadcast journalism, editing for corporate communications, and writing and editing of books and reports. Murdo has worked in the Middle East and Central Asia, as well as in Scotland.
